by Erik Zimmerman (MN)   Panasonic Lumix DMC-FH20 (Silver) Excellent Camera, few pitfalls to watch out for

I've had this camera for about two weeks now and so far its been great to use.

The 8x zoom is great, I used to have a sony p10 that I upgraded from that was only 3x, this makes a huge difference getting those "up close and personal" shots from a distance.

The image quality is...incredible. I'll admit I've not used anything over an 8MP camera but I can't imagine other 14MP camera's could be much better. The level of detail in the pictures is incredible.

That being said other reviews have taken issue with the low light capability and I have to agree with them....sorta. The iA (intelligent auto) feature doesn't seem to do a great job on its own in low lighting conditions. However if you select one of the scene modes and use a tripod, I've found the camera comes out with an acceptable quality even in low light.

Okay - you won't believe this but this is my FIRST Digital camera! Yeah - it takes me forever to catch up with the technology. I still love my 35MM but figured it's time (also because I have a ton of FILM that needs to be developed). This camera takes great pictures and I'm still figuring out the Movie recording function. Very happy with this purchase. The instructions could be a bit more detailed. Like on how to actually watch the movies you just recorded - things like that. But that may be on the DVD that I haven't had time to watch.
